Argh!

April 7, 2008

Not feeling well! Got lots of work to do! Am in charge of making sure the house doesn’t get burnt down!

Arghhhhh!

On the upside it snowed yesterday! And saw Jimmy Carr! Who called my sister a retard because she couldn’t stop laughing and answer his questions! Hehe!

Rambling Free

April 4, 2008

So my parents left this morning to spend the next two weeks in Las Vega on a business trip leaving me in charge of the house and my 19 year old sister who will return to uni in a week and 17 year old brother who starts easter hols today while I return to uni on monday.

This means we are going food shopping today as we don’t have any food since my parents have spent the week sorting out holiday stuff, so we are going to spend pretty much all the money they’ve given us on food (as usual). We should also probably clean out the fridge (which is giant which means things pretty much get forgotten and live in there).

I now have 3 1/2 weeks until I want to give in my composition in (it’s due on 6th may but so is all my creative writing stuff which is worth more, so i’m trying to get it in early so i don’t go absolutely mental), and still have a piece to finish and a big one to write and some to finish writing up. It’s going to be tight, and social activities and sleep is going to be limited over the next few weeks, and so is my sanity. But, as I keep telling myself, I always get it done, so it will get done. As long as I get a 2:1 I will be happy. If I get lower, I will so not be happy.

Anyway I should go. Please do join me for another ramble.

Work

March 28, 2008

Well it’s been a few days since I wrote, and it’s been generally the same thing (or at least it feels like it to me!) with a slight variation!

Monday I decided to start tackling my ‘critical analysis essay’ for my novel writing module at uni, which I’ve had to do for every single piece of work entered for creative writing over the last few years and I normally leave until a few days before the hand in (mainly because I haven’t finished the work which I am analysing!). However as all my work apart from my flute exam is due in on 6th May (and I mean ALL of it, as all my modules are year modules and I haven’t been marked on anything yet this year) I feel it would be irresponsible to leave it to the last minute. So I started it on monday, and finished the rough draft on tuesday which I’m pleased with! I didn’t think I would write 2,500 words (well 3,100 words because I always write too much) that quickly! Especially as I was still feeling ill until tuesday evening!

Wednesday was a change from normal! I went to see Andy’s niece Katie and her Mum while Andy was sleeping (or at least trying to). We had a lot of fun – Katie likes to be chased and giggles very loudly which probably didn’t help Andy sleep. I also gave her an invitation for my party which she enthusiastically turned over, got out her crayons and drew on! She’s funny!

Thursday I began analysing my 3 chapters of my novel for various elements such as suspense, which is a boring process but is useful. This has taken a lot longer than I expected and has rolled into today. Which is probably one reason why I am blogging as I’m trying to delay the boredom.

I’m getting to the point where I just want to finish uni now, as I’ve been in education since I was 4/5 and am bored with it now! I just want to live life! Roll on 22nd May (when my last deadline – my flute exam is and coincidentally my 21st birthday!).

Later on I’m going to see Andy (and Katie!) who has now finished his work at Sainsbury’s! Yay! :D

My sister is getting her new car today! A purple ford fiesta! How amusing!

Well I should probably get on and stop avoiding work! Please do join me for another ramble.

A Quick Note

Apparently I haven’t worked out how to write in paragraphs (though I did try) so for that I apologise!

My First Ramble

March 23, 2008

Hi! I’m Sarah, I’m nearly 21, I’m 5 ft 1 and a bit and despite it being rumoured that I am an Oompa Loompa (of Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory variety from the first film, not the scary one of the film with Johnny Depp) I assure you I am not! In fact I would much rather eat chocolate than make it! Today is Easter Day, as is a particularly special day for me, for a number of reasons. 1) I am a Christian, so today I celebrate Jesus rising from the dead.2) I have been going out my lovely boyfriend Andy for 1 year and 7 months today! (Not that I’m counting).3) I gave chocolate up for lent and after what feels like a lifetime of starving myself of my daily dosage of chocolate, I can finally eat it again! Woohoo! (I have been given 8 chocolate eggs today, so believe me, I am going to indulge!) Plus I absolutely LOVE mini eggs which for some reason only appear at Easter!4) It SNOWED!!I have not been feeling well for the last two days, and I’m not sure if it’s a cold or an allergic reaction! The last year or two I have started to develop an allergy to some nuts and apparently other undiscovered things which make me sneeze a ridiculous amount of times a day! I’m also asthmatic, have hayfever and don’t have a sense of smell!”You don’t have a sense of smell?” I hear you say.  I wasn’t born with a sense of smell as far as I am aware (but it’s not really something you ask a baby or something you don’t notice losing I imagine) and I have been to doctors and had x-rays and various other things which haven’t helped. At the moment I am seeing a homeopath who has given me tablets to take and has helped me to get some sense of smell! :-) However they are mainly very strong smells. Things I can smell at the moment include the sea, flash bathroom spray, Andy’s shampoo, spaghetti bolognese, curry and some other strong foods. The homeopath has also taken me off antihistamines which I’ve taken for the last 4/5 years everyday to prevent me from sneezing about 50 times a day (I’m not eggagerating). However I think the hayfever season has arrived and I fear all the progress I have made so far is going to backtrack because of the loss of antihistamines and I will get to take the merry train to the the world of sneeze-a-lot once again. Watch this space! As you can probably tell I’m a bit of a rambler, hence my blog title. I should probably tell you a little more about me and what I do. I am in my third and final year of my Creative Writing and Music degree. I plan to publish a novel (I am writing one as part of my uni course) and play the flute (and piccolo, a mini higher flute) and piano. Next year I am going to take a year out to be a teaching assistant before I do a PGCE (a year’s teaching degree) the year after. I have a close family, the oldest of three kids with one sister and one brother (you can decide which way round they are). I have a wonderful boyfriend called Andy (his blog is on my blogroll). I spend a lot of time in my car driving to uni or to visit Andy or my sister who both go to unis far away. I have a Ford Fiesta which is dying at the moment :( so I am searching for another car to replace Huxley (yes, my car is named Huxley).Well, I think that’s enough for today. Time for some chocolate. Please do join me for another ramble.
